IT is anticipated the district’s rainfall total for January will pass the annual average after consecutive days of wet weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Kerang gauge recorded 11.0 millimetres from 9am Sunday to 9am yesterday, with more rain occurring in the following hours.
The rain brought the monthly total to 22.0 millimetres – 1.8 millimetres below the long-term mark.
Similar figures were seen in Cohuna and Lake Charm. Across the weekend Cohuna received 13.5 millimetres of rain bringing their monthly total to 24.0 millimetres.
At Lake Charm the total was 22.0 millimetres with an overnight rainfall of 12.0 millimetres.
Koondrook’s average was higher with a total of 41.0 millimetres this month after seeing 27.0 millimetres of rain during the weekend.
Quambatook and Murrabit experienced less rain this month.
Quambatook’s gauges have recorded 8.4 millimetres for the month after 2.4 millimetres during the weekend, whilst Murrabit had 12.0 millimetres of water overnight but only had 14.0 millimetres overall this month.
The rain was a welcome change after a very hot month with maximum temperatures in the mid to high 30s during last week.
The rain will be accompanied by cooler conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging between the high 20s and low 30s forecasted for the rest of the week.
