Hot bearing

09 Feb, 2012 02:15 PM
A TRANSPORT driver was treated by paramedics for breathing difficulties after extinguishing a fire in a wheel bearing.

The 35-year-old man thought that his laden B-double transport had blown a tyre when he noticed smoke billowing from the left rear wheel.

He stopped on the edge of the Kerang-Koondrook Road, about 12 kilometres from Kerang.

A Kerang fire tanker crew called for ambulance when the man began to suffer breathing difficulties after apparently inhaling fire extinguisher powder.

He had earlier loaded with gypsum at Tresco and was heading to Albury.
