Kerang school centenary

PREPARATIONS are continuing for this year’s St oseph's Primary School Kerang centenary festivities.

A weekend of events are being planned for Saturday and Sunday, March 3 and 4, 2012, which will mark 100 years since sisters of the Good Samaritan order responded to a request to commence teaching in the town.

The Nolan Street school will be open for inspection on the Saturday between 3pm and 5pm prior to a 7pm social function with rock and roll entertainment at the Kerang Hotel function room in Wellington Street and a chance to chat and catch with former classmates and friends.

Visitors are asked to bring their own nibbles to share.

Sunday's program opens with 10.30am Mass at St Patrick's Catholic Church.

Tours of the refurbished school and grounds will be available from 11.30am until 3pm.

A ceremony will be held to open time capsules, memorabilia will be displayed a book containing memories of past students and teachers will be available.

Lunch will be available. For catering purposes families are asked to respond by January 31, indicating the number of people attending the luncheon.
