COHUNA United will host Nondies in Northern District Cricket Association A grade action tomorrow.
Regan Williams has stepped up from B grade and has been looking good with bat and ball. Ian Mathers is in form, Daniel Cooke is not, while Chris Waterson and Logan Spittal are getting a few wickets and Sam Jones is now taking catches. Nondies have talented batsmen in Clayton Holmes, Glen O’Shea and Peter Doyle. Kansas Varker has shown plenty of potential and Jake Thrum is good on his day. The selection is United by 19 runs.
Wandella plays at home against Barham/Koondrook. Mick Bott, Brodey Farley, Trav Matheson and Kyle Gillingham are part of a star-studded bowling attack. Barham/Koondrook’s batting is its strong point. Sam Davis and Warren Lolicato did well last time against Wandella, Wes O’Neill is experienced and Mick O’Toole can be a handy tail-ender. The pick is Barham/Koondrook in an upset by 11.
Leitchville/Gunbower travels to Murrabit. Tyler Jones has been punishing lately, Kurt Brereton is also dangerous with a bat in his hand and Brad Windridge’s batting can be dour but he is hard to dismiss. Murrabit is a big chance if everyone is available, however. Josh Dwyer is handy with a new ball, Brad Hein can score big, Nathan Henry is an all-rounder of note and the McKnights make runs when given time at the crease. The tip is Murrabit by eight.
In B grade games, Pyramid Hill will host Cohuna United. Chris Cain is in form, Daniel Bartels has plenty of knowledge, while Steve Fawcett and Grant Mooney are veterans with a lot to offer. United has Dazza Hancock in form but needs more from others. Jordan White and Daniel Wyatt have been bowling well and Ash Waterson is also due for a score. The pick is Pyramid Hill by 22 runs.
The Leitchville Footballers’ XI hosts Mincha. Expect plenty of determination from Andrew Brown, a few runs from Jack Lunghusen and a bag of wickets from Rikki Matthews. Mincha has youngster Evan Dorrington in form, Brent Toma looking for form and Nick Tonkin prepared to again carry the team. Mincha is picked to get up by 31 unless Chris Hill plays - and then it will be a tie.
Leitchville/Gunbower is up against Barham/Koondrook at Gunbower Oval. Lee Pollock bowls with fire, Steven Prout is handy with the willow and Kiall Aitken trains hard. Barham/Koondrook has youngsters like Jade Stewart, Dylan Robinson and Nathan O’Toole to fire up with bat and ball. The selection is Leitchville/Gunbower by 16.
Wakool is at home up north against Wandella. Guy Treweek is ready for a score, Glen Smith will bowl well on the synthetic surface and Shamus Solar is a good support act with the ball. Wandella expects plenty from Russell Bott, Neil Lehman will be trying hard and Jason Leggett should be able to absorb a few overs as an opener. The tip is Wakool by 46.
Nondies play Kerang at home on their synthetic pitch at Cohuna. They have been flying of late and will look to keep up the momentum. Gary Holmes is scoring close to his age, Jack Dehne is a handy B-grader and Joel Donehue can field. Kerang has plenty of potential. Paddy Monaghan could be the next big thing, Mark Higgs can do heaps with the ball and Trav Smith is a match-winner with a little support. The pick is Nondies by 18.
